“Dear is the treasure who lies in them” by Martin Luther :

“What is the New Testament but a public preaching and proclamation of Christ, set forth through the sayings of the Old Testament and fulfilled through Christ? In order that those who are not more familiar with it may have instruction and guidance for reading the Old Testament with profit, I have prepared this preface to the best of the ability God has given me.
I beg and really caution every pious Christian not to be offended by the simplicity of the language and stories encountered there, but fully realize that, however simple they may seem, these are the very words, works, judgments, and deeds of the majesty, power, and wisdom of the most high God.
For these are the Scriptures which make fools of all the wise and understanding, and are open only to the small and simple, as Christ says in Matthew 11:25.
Therefore, dismiss your own opinions and feelings, and think of the Scriptures as the loftiest and noblest of holy things, as the richest of mines which can never be sufficiently explored, in order that you may find that divine wisdom which God lays here before you in such simple guise as to quench all pride.
Here you find the swaddling cloths and the manger in which Christ lies, and to which the angel points the shepherds (Luke 2:12). Simply and lowly are these swaddling cloths, but dear is the treasure, Christ, who lies in them
.”
–Martin Luther, “Preface to the Old Testament (1523/1545),”

Honestly, when one does a true and sober inventory of what an undeniable evil-borderline satanic- person Martin Luther was, it is staggering to me that a person would give any credence to any utterance of his. If there is one person, of which you could say ''he was Satan's own'', it would be Luther. Just my humble opinion.

John, thanks for your opinion. Martin Luther was a sinner and God uses sinners, he did not come to call the righteous to repentance.
If God had not saved Martin Luther and we did not have the bible in our own language then you and I would not have been able to have had the debate on purgatory, we would still be stuck in the dark ages and the bible would still be read in Latin by priests.
We would still be giving our money to the Roman Catholic religion (through indulgences) to buy our dead relatives out of purgatory.
**A reminder** Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin Hebrews 9:22
I find it intersting you attack the character of Luther as evidence for your religion.
Thankfully we (Christians) know that no man is perfect, let alone infallable and we do not look to any man except the Lord Jesus Christ. Nevertheless Luther knew the truth, was born again and was used by God to bring the truth to billions.
I thank God for using men like Luther and John Calvin, (Calvin was not perfect either)

Sorry, Dale but what you are saying has no merit. Luther was an evil man and the Bible clearly tells us that the ungodly shall not enter heaven. Luther invented a false doctrine of easy religion that bears no resemblance to legitimate Christianity. This truth will become painfully clear as our debates move forward. Luther was a wolf in sheep's clothing and, as such, is in hell with Judas. I look forward to further debates with you. It is my prayer that God will free you from the cult of protestantism and bring you back to the genuine Christian faith which can only be fully found in the Catholic church.

I bid you peace, my brother, in Jesus name.

Please take these words as they are meant, brother. I believe you are truly seeking Christ and desire to please Him. However, you cannot find Him in the venomous lies of Luther and the Protestant heretics. Christ can only be truly found in the church HE established. In our debates, I WILL prove that the Roman catholic church and ONLY the Roman Catholic Church is that Church. make no mistake, I WILL prove it...not merely beyond a reasonable doubt but beyond ANY doubt. God love you, my brother.

Ok John, I will respond to your assertions for the benefit of others that may read this.
You said : "Sorry, Dale but what you are saying has no merit."

Only according to you John, not according to church history and the facts, Luther was appauled by John Tetzel's actions, this man was employed by the vatican who instructed him to sell indulgences promising people less time in purgatory if they gave money to the RCC.

You Said : "Luther invented a false doctrine of easy religion that bears no resemblance to legitimate Christianity."

Luther simply read his bible, God's word.

You Said "It is my prayer that God will free you from the cult of protestantism and bring you back to the genuine Christian faith which can only be fully found in the Catholic church."

I used to be a Roman Catholic then I became a Christian when God very graciously saved me from the power of sin. Once an individual is born again (John 3:3) there is no going back :
Php 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

You also said "Christ can only be truly found in the church HE established. In our debates, I WILL prove that the Roman catholic church and ONLY the Roman Catholic Church is that Church"

The true church of Jesus Christ is invisible John, Roman Catholics claim that the RCC is the only true church just like the Mormons and JW'S. If the RCC was the true church then that poses some very interesting questions, like : the vatican asserts that Peter was the first pope, since Peter was married (Mark 1:30), and Jesus Christ and the rest of the apostles had no problem with that, then how is it that subsequent pope's are told they must abstain from marriage ?

The truth does not change John. John 8:32
